There is a myth that all items manufactured in China are pirated or somewhat inferior to items manufactured “elsewhere”. This is definitely not the case. Major brands, known for their quality and pedigree, have established factories in China, taking advantage of the low cost of labour and land as well as production and manufacturing efficiency. This does not imply that items produced there are somewhat inferior, it just means that the products have been manufactured in a cheaper locale while still maintaing the standards and quality that is expected of a brand.

The Safilo Group, one of the largest manufacturers of lenses that work for brands such as: Armani, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Nine West, Ralph Lauren, Juciy Coutre, Dior, Fossil, Claiborne, Marc Jacobs, JLO and SAKS Fifth Avenue among other brands.

This company like many others in its market, has production plants in China, so some of the brands listed above may have the legend “Made In China” on the box or the packaging. These lenses are original and not duplicate or pirated versions.

You can confirm this information by looking up the documents found on the internet or you could call the customer service numbers in the U.S. for Tommy Hilfiger, Fossil, Ralph Lauren and Nine West directly and all the same thing, “We have manufacturers around the world, including China.”

Most of the merchandise sold over the internet, including contact lenses is purchased directly in China by wither the wholesalers or by drop shippers in the United States. It is still advisable that one, in the interest of being an informed customer, always inquire about the product if they have any doubts regarding the authenticity, not only because the product says “Made in China” but for any other reasons as well – such as impossibly low prices or maybe packaging differences from what one has been accustomed to. Please investigate whether the earlier mark has manufacturers in that country and do as your seller about the origin of the goods and what can he do to guaranty the authenticity of their lenses.
