Since the oxygen intake of the cornea decreases considerably by the use of colored contact lenses, since the cornea breathes about 80% of the oxygen from air and color contact lenses forma an intermediate layer on the cornea. Colored lenses are far less gas permeable than corrective contact lenses, so an individual is more to diseases like keratitis and other eye diseases.
Since the cornea has no blood vessels and prolonged use of these lenses doesn’t provide enough oxygen to the eye so blood vessels loose their strength in due course of time. It is often advised to get certain tests done from the eye doctor and only after getting the green signal an individual should go ahead buy any of these colored contact lenses.
